Thomas Dudley stands as one of the UK’s foremost manufacturers, overseeing a portfolio of specialized companies in various sectors. As a parent company, Thomas Dudley needed a digital platform that would effectively direct potential corporate clients to the right services, while also highlighting their community initiatives and career opportunities.

Client Goals

The management team at Thomas Dudley approached me with several key objectives:

  • Deliver a Fast, Branded Website: The new site needed to instantly communicate the company’s identity, clearly outlining the different sub-brands while also projecting a friendly, approachable image.
  • Optimize for Google Search: Prioritizing pagespeed was essential, both to improve user experience and to maximize visibility in Google search results.
  • Empower Internal Teams: The backend of the site had to be intuitive, enabling the Thomas Dudley team to manage content and publish blog updates independently.

Understanding the importance of first impressions, the homepage and relevant sections feature high-quality videos of company facilities and operations. This not only builds trust with corporate clients but also enhances the perception of Thomas Dudley as a forward-thinking, modern manufacturer.

4. Careers and Community Subsite

For the “Thomas Dudley Works” initiative, I developed a fully integrated Careers section. This module enables the HR team to post new vacancies, while advanced filtering options allow jobseekers to quickly find roles that match their skills and interests. Community outreach activities are also showcased, reinforcing Thomas Dudley’s commitment to social responsibility.

5. Technical Excellence

From the outset, I prioritized pagespeed optimization. By implementing best practices in code structure, asset loading, and media delivery, the website achieved a Google Sitespeed score above 90—ensuring top-tier search performance and user satisfaction.

6. Easy Backend Management

The site’s backend was designed with non-technical users in mind. The intuitive content management system allows staff to update text, imagery, and blog content independently, reducing ongoing maintenance costs and delays.
